Welcome to Hampton Dene Primary School

Our basic philosophy at Hampton Dene is that we should prepare children for the world that they will inherit, and not the world that we as parents will leave behind.

When I was young, pocket calculators were the size of books, we had two television channels to choose from (boy, was I excited when BBC2 started!), we were the only household in our street to own a vacuum cleaner, hardly anyone I knew had a telephone and computers needed whole buildings to house them.
But today? And tomorrow?
There were many things to be thankful for in ‘the old days’, but I believe it would be stupid to replicate my own education for your children. Children need the skills, knowledge, attributes and experiences to enable them to function effectively in a future world that we can barely imagine!
We pride ourselves on being a ‘learning school’. We place heavy emphasis on the social and emotional aspects of learning, and actively seek to develop the attributes of independence, high self-esteem, self-awareness, curiosity and motivation. Cooperation and understanding of others’ needs are essential, so we do not expect children to work in isolation. We want to create an environment where education becomes a lifelong adventure, where every child is valued as an individual, their every success celebrated.
